If you love coffee and chocolate, you will love these homemade coffee brownies! They are so delicious and and easy to make.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 cup strongly brewed coffee
- 1/4 cup dark unsweetened cocoa
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
For the Frosting:
- 1/2 cup butter
- 2 tablespoons dark cocoa
- 1/4 cup milk
- 3 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
Instructions:
- In large mixing bowl combine flour and sugar.
- In heavy saucepan combine butter, shortening, coffee, and cocoa. Stir and heat until boiling.
- Pour boiling mixture over the flour and sugar in the bowl. Add the buttermilk, eggs, baking soda and vanilla.
- Mix well using a high speed electric mixer.
- Pour into a well buttered 17 1/2-by-11 inch jelly roll pan.
- Bake at 400 degrees for 18-20 minutes or until brownies test done in the center.
- While brownies bake, prepare the frosting. In a saucepan combine the butter, cocoa and milk. Heat until boiling while stirring.
- Mix in the powdered sugar and the vanilla until the frosting is smooth.
- Pour warm frosting over brownies as soon as you remove them from the oven. Cool and serve.
