Drunk Gummy Bears

Drunk Gummy Bears Recipe

Drunk gummy bears are vodka infused gummy bears that all of my friends love! I have been making these drunk gummy bears for about 5 years now so I feel like after years of practice they are the best vodka infused gummy bears yet!

My friends tell me that my super power is making drunk gummy bears. I know, I know…. not much of a super power, but it is what I do. Initially my bears were pretty much like everyone else who tried to make them…. a sticky mess. With trial and error and making a few adjustments, I made drunk gummy bears that weren’t so sticky. They are also much easier to eat.

At first, I brought a big bowl of these guys to gatherings and people grabbed what they wanted. I watched in HORROR! I am in the medical profession and can’t stand things that aren’t clean. I didn’t know where all those hands had been! The next time I made the bears I started experimenting and finally came up with a way to make them a little less sticky where they could be packed in smaller bags and cups.

The next gathering I took them to people loved having their own cup and not having a gooey mess! In addition to this the gummy bears are able to be stored longer. I have kept them in air-tight containers for approximately 3 months. I also will vacuum seal them for storage which works great.

Vodka Infused Gummy Bears

Here is my recipe for drunk gummy bears:

Ingredients:

  1. 6 pounds of gummy bears (I prefer Haribo or Walmart brand)
  2. 750 ml bottle (maybe even a half bottle more) of Pinnacle Whipped Vodka (but you can use any Vodka)
  3. Large plastic bowl with cover

Instructions:

  1. Put gummy bears in the large bowl. Break up any chunks.
  2. Pour vodka over gummy bears until covered. This will probably take a full 750 ml bottle of vodka. Stir.
  3. Cover. Place in refrigerator for 24 hours.
  4. After 24 hours, remove gummy bears from refrigerator, stir. If vodka has been absorbed by the bears, add additional vodka until bears are covered once again. Place back in fridge for 24 hours.
  5. Remove bears from the fridge, stir, add more vodka if needed. Placed back in fridge.
  6. Remove bears from fridge, drain off liquid in colander into sink or another bowl to save liquid for shots or speciality drinks.
  7. After straining bears rinse lightly under water in colander. Shake water off, and spread on towels to dry for 20-30 minutes.
  8. When dried to your liking, package in airtight containers and store in refrigerator up to 3 months.
